What Sets Us Apart

Beautiful Smiles...Exceptional Care

Orthodontic treatment is a big decision and a big commitment. Knowing this, it is important to us to get to know you personally and meet your individual orthodontic needs in the most positive and friendly environment possible. Dr. Gust and his staff are always ready with a smile to answer any and all questions you may have at any time during your treatment. We strive to maintain a fun and easygoing atmosphere to make your orthodontic care exceptional. We look forward to having you become part of our orthodontic family!

Master's Degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics

Dr. Gust obtained a Master's Degree in Orthodontics in addition to his specialty certificate by attending a 2 1/2-year orthodontic residency program accredited by the American Dental Association. This extended training required Dr. Gust to do research in the field of Orthodontics and to complete a thesis. Dr. Gust's thesis focused on when it is best to treat a patient without having to extract teeth vs. when extractions are necessary to produce the best smile. He has done extensive research in this area and believes in surgery and extractions only when it will provide the patient with the best possible result.

Board Certified

Dr. Gust is a Board-Certified Orthodontist and a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics. This is the only orthodontic specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association and sponsored by the American Association of Orthodontists. Board certification is a voluntary examination process aimed at demonstrating an orthodontist's pursuit of continued proficiency and excellence. Currently, only 35% of orthodontists are board certified.

Individualized Treatment

Each patient, and each smile, will require different treatment modalities. We pride ourselves on creating beautiful smiles while using a conservative approach to surgery and extractions. Dr. Gust treats children at their individual optimal starting point. This is established from a growth and development perspective, not from a pre-determined age criteria.

Use of Cutting Edge Technology

Dr. Gust uses the very latest in treatment appliances to offer the least invasive treatment possible to patients. He excels each year in continuing education classes to ensure that he is up to date on the latest technology and techniques. Ceramic braces, Damon brackets, and Invisalign® technology are used when possible. In addition, we offer state-of-the-art digital x-rays, thereby eliminating 70-90% of exposure to radiation and reducing the amount of time spent taking records.

Sterilization Methods

Our sterilization procedures meet or exceed the standards set by OSHA and the National Center for Disease Control. We use the Sterilization Monitoring Service at the University of Kansas-City School of Dentistry to ensure that our sterilization equipment is running efficiently and sufficiently.

Flexible Payment Terms

Having a beautiful smile is something that everyone should experience. We feel very strongly that it is important to make this possible for all patients. Dr. Gust's office makes every effort to offer payment terms that will suit every budget. This includes zero percent in-house financing and long term payment options. We will work with you to find an option that works best for you.
